3 Things to Treasure

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Weeks ago, I was watching a lecture (“Love Takes Time” heehee) by Shaykh Yahya Ninowy. It was about an hour long. But I just wanted to share this hadith that he mentioned.

The Prophet SAW said that there are 3 things that you should treasure:

  1. izan qalban shakiran : a heart thats thankful
  2. wa lisanan zakirah: a tongue that remembers Him often
  3. wa zawja mukminah tu’inuhu alaal akhirah: a pious spouse helping you to reach the Akhirah

So sweet kan! And the way he said it in Arabic made it sound all that much nicer. It sounded like a poem or a couplet. Ahh, can you imagine hearing it from the Prophet’s SAW blessed speech himself? Woo, boleh pengsan! Haha.

Shaykh Yahya also said that the one who’s happy is the one who’s happy at home, even if the whole world is unhappy with him. And the one who’s unhappy is the one who’s unhappy at home even if the whole world is with him. Your home should be your comfort zone and your spouse your main source of comfort.

He said, “Don’t go home frowning. Give salaam. Salaam means peace. Allah will put peace into your heart and your spouse. Give salaam with a smile. Do charity to your family.”

And he also said that you should look for someone who is wadud, someone who is smiley. He said the Prophet SAW was always seen smiling. This helps to put you at ease, and make your day and cools your heart after a rough day outside of home.

Alright, I hope that was beneficial. May Allah grant us grateful hearts, tongues that are busy with the remembrance of Him and also to grant us smiley spouses who will help us reach Akhirah! :) Amin.

huhu cute. may i add, Rasulullah s.a.w. smiled, but usually without teeth.. and when he laughed, Rasulullah s.a.w. showed his teeth which are white and beautiful (as in some narrations described as pearls, masyaAllah)… but without sound (when he laughed).

and surely, his face was full of himmah also… good character.. silent strength. i just want to point this out because some guys out there do smile and ‘show a lot of teeth’ but its zero ‘inside’.. think you will understand, insyaAllah. (hehe)

    Allah knows best :)
