“My Fahri” Version 2

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

MasyaAllah. The whole day my mind was not at ease. I just had this feeling at the back of my head that something was up. I had just got home minutes ago and for some strange reason or another, I decided to re-read my old “My Fahri” poem. And guess what, it was written exactly a year ago. :)

SubhanAllah. How time flies. I’ve written a second version as an anniversary tribute. ;)

This is for all the husbands who felt little and disappointed when your wives made you read my poem, for all the men who hated me for writing that, for all the egos I had bruised and for all the confidence I had crushed. I apologise, truly. The first Fahri poem was really about a picture-perfect man that (very very) rarely exist in this world.

This is for all you beautiful men who are struggling and striving for Allah’s sake. May Allah bless you and help you in your efforts always. Amin!

My Fahri is still waiting for me
Just as I am waiting for him
He strives hard at what he does
To make up for his past

My Fahri may not be the most good-looking of the lot
Neither am I Miss Universe of the year
He may occasionally slip and sin
But I prefer to see his beauty within

My Fahri might not read the Qur’an without error
He may not even have memorised many Surahs
But his recitation will calm & soothe me
Because of his pure heart’s sincerity

My Fahri might have had a girlfriend or two
But he’s repented and changed his ways
What matters now is me & him
And how we’ll help each other achieve our dream

My Fahri might not have read that many books
And he may laugh too loud or joke too much
But he has great love & respect for the Prophet (saw)
And tries hard to reform his inward

My Fahri may occasionally raise his voice at me
But I’ll understand that I too have my flaws
Yet we’ll always forgive and heal the scar
Because our marriage is not for the dunya

My Fahri, my Imam, in this life & the next,
Do you know that I’m still missing you?
It may be tough and you may feel blue
But do know that somehow somewhere, I am struggling too.

My Fahri may not be the dream I’ve dreamt him to be
But he’ll be the man Allah has chosen for me
And for that I’ll give my heart to him
And we’ll still make a great tag team

I’m still in his dua
And he’s still in my dream
My Fahri is still waiting for me
Just as I am still waiting for him.

All you ladies who copied & pasted & adored the first Fahri poem, make sure you read this second one and overlook the flaws of the men who are in your lives. Marriage can’t be perfect because its made up of 2 imperfect people. And for the single ladies, do take off the rose-tinted glasses I’ve made you put on. Better to focus on making ourselves better rather than looking for a Fahri to help make us better. InsyaAllah. :)

Now that I have my Fahri, this poem seems even more beautiful than the first. :) Shukran jazakillah for sharing your thoughts and for using your writing skills to touch our hearts.

My du’as are still for you to find that Fahri. Semoga dia tak malu-malu kucing dan datang seperti singa, tetapi lembut bagaikan Rasulullah SAW. :)
